EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES


JOURNALISM CLUB

    It was formed in the year 2000.  Its main objective is to familiarize the students with activities connected with journalism and the media.  The Odyssey 2000- largest wall magazine is the brain-child of the Journalism Club.

YOUTH CLINIC

   It was established on Dec 8th 2000. Its main purpose is to help the needy students. It organizes Charitable funds, a Book Bank, Counselling and Career Guidance cells in this connection.

NATURE CLUB

   It is a branch of the Dept. of Zoology and was started in 2002. Its main agenda is to cultivate a love for nature in the minds of the students. Therefore it   is  a club started to protect and promote nature and its environent. It conducts nature camps and imparts education about nature and environment.

The Dept. of Zoology has also established a Butterfly Park n the Campus as a part of its nature campaign. Nature activists of the Dept. of Botany have contributed much to the Nature club by creating a Botanical and Herbal garden in the Campus.

FILM CLUB

It was established in April 2003. The Club was set up to create an awareness about films, both national and international among the student community. It screens famous films for the benefit of the students.

PHYSICS CLUB

    It is a part of the Physics Department and the main objective of the club is to create an interest among the students for Physics and related sciences.

It was formed in the year 2002. Its main aim is to get the students acquainted with the construction and repair of common electrical and electronic appliances.Convener:

ASTRONOMY CLUB

A branch of the Dept. of Physics, the Astronomy Club was formed in 2002. Its main goal is to create an interest for astronomy among the students and satisfy the curiosity of young scientist about astronomical instruments like the telescope etc.

ECO-FRIENDS CLUB

It is an environment friendly club started with the purpose of spreading an awareness against poly bags within and outside the campus. The members of this club make paper bags on a regular basis and distribute it to create an awareness. They also hold awareness campus about the dangers of using poly bags in other schools and colleges and thereby work towards a clean and safe environment. The club also promotes self employment as paper bag units can be set up by these students privately too.

OISCA

The OISCA wing in Malabar Christian College is active in all environment friendly activities. It activates the students to work towards the Save Green programme in the College. Its main objective is greening the campus.

Indo-Anglian Theatre Club

The Indo Anglian Theatre Club has conducted drama classes for students and others. Classes were being taken by Mr. Kuloor. Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, the trial scene from Merchant of Venice, Chekov’s The Journey are some of the plays that were staged.

It is an off-shoot of the Economics Dept. Students are given training in umbrella making, fabric painting and cloth bag making.

Naval NCC

Established in 1966 by Prof. Wilson Mackaden. It was taken over by Prof. V Rajagopal in 1981. The present Sub. Unit Commander is Lt. Commander T I Joe who assumed charge in 1991. Two cadets have been commissioned so far. 

There is an organisation   called THE SHIP for all ex-cadets of MCC, Naval wing. It's members include Justice Basanth, Director of Calicut Airport, Mr. Chinson V S Panakkal, Prof V Rajagopal, the present Controller of Examinations, Calicut University.
