The Malabar Christian College founded by the Basel Evangelical Mission in Kozhikode in 1909, is accredited with "A-grade" by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). The college now under the management of the North Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India boasts of the student strength of 1,200 in fifteen departments including five post-graduate departments, 61 faculty members, besides 24 non-teaching staff. The college which started with 15 students of whom two were women with Rev. W. Muller as Principal is a glowing paradigm of the initiative of the Basel Missionaries in universalizing education, with particular emphasis on women’s education. The college grew from strength to strength under the guidance of its principals many of who were in their own right visionaries in education.
